Aylesbury Dreams

Book Cover - Lawson Payne by Holly Bebernitz

Erected in Dennisonville in 1923, the Aylesbury Theatre was renowned for first-class stage productions. Season after season, the curtain rose and fell, actors entered and exited, bowing to thunderous applause.

Time shifted. Sold to the highest bidder, the Aylesbury was turned into a movie theatre, a favorite place for families and couples to gather, gaze at flickering images, and dream of faraway times and places, unaware that behind that silver screen, the stage remained intact, a ghost of grander days.

By 1980, the Aylesbury had outlived its usefulness even as a movie house and was again for sale. Clovis Warby and Dane O’Donnell became rival buyers, vowing to save the theatre, sacred—for different reasons—to each of them.

Willing to pay any price to restore the Aylesbury, each will discover what he needs most is to restore himself.
